Sanur - lost and found

Sanur is one of those quite touristic towns in the south of Bali. The beaches are rather ugly and the main road is stuffed with resorts, restaurants and bars.
Nevertheless South-Bali has it's highlights.
We rented a motorbike in order to discover the south.

On our daytrip we finally ended up in the famous Uluwatu Temple with it's amazing cliffs and Padang Padang beach. Better known as Surf Beach.

Even though we lost our way about 10 to 20 times (there are no signs on the road!) and had to go through the insane traffic of Denpassar by  motorbike we safely got back from our tour just right after dawn.

Good night!

A rainy day in Ubud

Unfortunately the weather was quite rainy today so we had to cancel our actual plans to go to Ubud Green School by bike. Nevertheless it was another amazing day in the presumably cutest town in asia.

We were walking around town the whole day looking for some cool stuff to buy - and we found a lot of cool stuff!
In the evening we've seen a traditional balinese dancing ensemble in the Ubud community hall. Nice view - awfull sound!

Tomorrow it's time to say goodbye to Ubud since we are heading south to Sanur beach at 3 pm by bus but Ubud may not have seen us the last time on this trip.....

Cycling the rural areas of Ubud

To get an impression on how the rural areas of Ubud look like we decided to make a guided day trip on the back of a bicycle.
In the morning we had breakfast at the edge of the crater of Mount Batur which offered us a great view in the crater.

The next few hours we rode around between endless rice fields and small villages with their cute compounds, which is a mixture of house and temple where the local people live in.
Eventually we had a pretty exhausting 45 minute uphill ride in the heat of noon to a beautiful restaurant where our tour ended with a traditional balinese lunch - jummy!

The rice terraces of Tegalalang

The view on the rice terraces of Tegalalang was just breathtaking!

The village of Tegalalang is round about 12 km north of Ubud. We decided to go there by bicycle but we didn't know that the 12 km from Ubud were a pure uphill ride. In the end  we got rewarded with a very impressing experience including a walk to the top of the other side of the rice terraces which was worth all the sweat. If you have the chance go and visit Tegalalang!

Loveley Ubud!

Today we enjoyed our first full day in Ubud. Ubud is just lovely, stunning and magnifficent together. Every "regular" house looks just like a tiny temple connected through hundrets of tiny alleys split up into several levels.

After visiting the Monkey Forrest we had a delicious dinner right at the edge of a rice field - wow!

Our walk through Ubud in the afternoon led us to several small artist galleries which had crazy paintings to offer.

We finally took a relaxing traditional balinese massage before we had a delicious dinner at a french restaurant at Gautama road.
We're already looking forward to a beautiful new day in Ubud!

Ubud

After a 24 hour trip we finally made it to Ubud and checked in to Ubud-View Bungalows straight in the heart of Ubud. Now it's time to relax and check out the beauty of Ubud by foot!

START - Waiting for departure

After a decent kiing prawn dinner in Munich with Steffis mum we are kind of exited of tomorrow noon. Our plain will be departing at 12.00 o'clock - high noon! Our two cats Yoda and Julio will be spending the next few weeks together with Steffis mum in Ismaning close to Munich where we also spend our last night before departure. Another Erdinger Weißbeer is gonna cool me down having temperatures of 33 celsius and more in Germany these days. Cheers!
