The Balisanti - THE END

In order to get some new impressions we changed accomodation for the last few nights. Our destination was the Balisanti Bungalows at the other end of Candi Dasa. An amazing infinity pool, an open air bathroom with a garden INSIDE the bathroom and a jungle like environment throughout the resort make this place quite unique.

The last 100 km motorbike trip led us to sweet Ubud again to make our last purchases.
Moreover we've seen another cremation where they actually burned the dead bodies - very scary!!!

Tomorrow it is time to say good bye to charming Bali but one thing we already know for sure right now:

BEAUTIFUL BALI, WE FALL IN LOVE WITH YOU AND WE WILL BE BACK AS SOON AS POSSIBLE  AND THAT'S FOR SURE :-)

Pura Luhur Lempuyang

Pura Luhur Lempuyang is a balinese temple on top of a volcano. It can be reached climbing sweet 1700 steps passing 4 other temples on the way up.
Sounded good enough to do it!
The road leading to the parking area is that curvey and steep that our motorbike almost didn't make it! (scary)

Let's get the challange started!

Temple No. 1

Our way led through savage jungle, several different climate zones passing three further temples, including a brilliant view on great mount Agung (the holy mount, 3051 meters high)

Exhausted and completely wet and two hours later we arrived at the top at Pura Luhur Lempuyang. It was quite hot up there even though it was very foggy.

After we witnessed a balinese ceremony we made our way back down the mount and drove back to sweet Candi Dasa passing some more beautiful rice terasses.

A "spicy like hell" Mahi Mahi dinner  and a bottle of Sauvignon Blanc above a Koi pond ended this sensational day.

Trawling - Fishing - Snorkeling

Getting up at 05.30 o'clock in the morning is not funny unless you have a good reason for it. We decided to go out for a trawling/fishing/snorkeling tour with one of the local fisherman.

After an hour of unsucessful trawling we stopped the engine for a round of bottom fishing. The only one who cought 4 fish was the fisherman but we tried as hard as we could!

Finally the fisherman brought us to a small island next to the cost of Candi Dasa in order to go snorkeling where we saw plenty of dead corals which were killed by dynamite-fisherman from Lombok.

Unfortunately the sea was not as calm as we expected on our ride back thus one of us got a little bit seasick and had to take a timeout for the rest of the day :-)

I got a tasty vitamin water in order refill my energy system - yummy! ( why can't I get this in Germany?)

White Sand Beach

Even though there are some beaches around in the area there is a famous  beach called "White Sand Beach" round about 5 km east of Candi Dasa's main road.
We decided to walk there in order to get a closer impression of the island life.

We walked over steep hills passing a huge crowd of monkeys and some other well known cute animals!

We made a brief rest at a tiny cemetary to refresh ourselfs with some water.

After a cosy 2 hour walk we finally arrived at White Sand Beach. We would call the beach " Relatively White Sand Beach" because the sand is just white for Bali circumstances :-)
Nevertheless we wasted our day with lying on this beach and enjoying the huge waves of the warm balinese sea.
(Slowley we get a tiny tain)

Back to Cadi Dasa we took a Bemo which is a local mini taxi-minibus.
It was 5000 IDR = 0,35 Eur for a 10 minute ride!
A good tasting bottle of local redwine brought this day to a proper end - good night!

Tirtagangga - Amed - Candi Dasa

Since the motorbike is the best way on Bali to cover even long distances we decided to go for another day tour.

Our first destination was the water temple of Tirtagangga north of Candi Dasa. This beautiful area was built from one of the former emperors who adored water games.

Our scenic ride led through green rice fields, two volcanos on our right and always facing the holy mount Agung on our left which was clearly visible this sunny day.

Another hour later we arrived in Amed, a small village at the north-east end of Bali.
We were lucky as we were able to witness a balinese cremation.

We decided to take the scenic road next to the east cost to go back to Candi Dasa which turned out to be a 40 km adventurous rough ride through the hills and dales of the cost offering us breathtaking views of Bali's black sand beaches.
(Don't do this one if you're not a good motorbike driver :-) )

Candi Dasa - Tenganan

The sun was shining through the dark tained windows of our bungalow and woke us up smoothly this warm morning.

After a decent breakfast at the lotus flower pond we decided to walk to the ancient village of Tenganan which is round about 4 km west of Candi Dasa.

Our walk led us out of Candi Dasa through little villages savage nature and lonley roads in the middle of nowhere.

We reached Tenganan in the heat of noon and we were pretty impressed since these people really seem to live like in the 18th century.

A few hours later we were heading back to our beautiful boutique resort "Le 48 Bali"  in order to catch the last rays of sun of this sunny day and get a magnificent french-balinese dinner and a bottle of red wine at the Le 48 restaurant.

Lovely Candi Dasa

We left (ugly) Sanur at 10.30 am by Perama shuttle bus heading to Candi Dasa without knowing anything about that town.

What we did not know was that the bus didn't drive right along the cost but via Ubud and Padangbai to Candi Dasa. Moreover we had to change the bus THREE times on our 2,5 hour ride.

After arriving in Candi Dasa it was time to find an accomodation since we did not book anything in advance this time.

About 2 hours and a few kilometers by foot, after we had checked several accomodations in the heat of noon

(this is lovely Ida's on the picture) we found a little diamond next to the Lotus Flower pond at the end of the main street named "Le 48 - Zen Resort" which is a beautiful boutique resort with 6 villas and an amaaaaaaazing pool!

It's not the cheapest one but as a matter of fact the most beautiful one we have found. It looks like the right place to relax and discover the sourroundings of Candi Dasa the next few days.

Pura Tanah Lot

New day - new luck in Sanur. Since the Sanur beaches are not the most attractive one in the world we decided to soak up even more balinese culture. A word and a blow! We rented a motorbike at the Australian pub and went southbound to the world famous Tanah Lot Temple.

Once we had been through the chaotic traffic of Denpassar we enjoyed the ride through the rural areas of South-Bali until we finally reached Pura Tannah Lot at the west cost.

The view of the rough costline with it's two temples on the rocks was pretty stunning. We were roaming around on the rocks for a while feeling the vibes of the mystic area before we saddled our mitorbike and cruized home to Sanur.

We will be leaving Sanur by Perama shuttle bus tomorrow morning heading to the very east of Bali's cost - Candidasa.
